Our objective for our women’s Brazilian Jiu-jitsu program has always been and will continue to be about promoting a healthy self image. We have and will continue to strongly encourage women to train in BJJ by providing free introduction to the martial art and also our expert coaches to guide you through a session. Brazilian Jiujitsu, shortened to BJJ, is a taught everywhere in the world for rape and its self defence skills. You will learn to use leverage to apply strength effectively to an opponent and also learn new skills that will challenge you mentally and physically. A bit like a human chess-game where problem solving complex issues are done while utilising your whole body to subdue someone.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Will Teach You Practical Self Defence

Controlling an opponent and  using leverage at first sounds very alien. You’re probably thinking “why can’t I punch or just kick someone like in striking arts Krav Maga, Muay Thai or Karate?” You’re not wrong. Most so-called experts and martial artistists teach those common tactics and skills to women. It has its place but isn’t always appropriate. Compromising or high risk situations don’t always occur when you’re standing. What if you’re sitting and someone approaches you? Or what happens if you’re tackled to the ground?

Not all fights are done in a large space, some of the worst situations involve being pinned to the floor or a wall. Our BJJ women’s program and BJJ classes will teach you how to move your body and deal with tough situations like that.
